6,000 people and counting

So, Saturday was fabulous. We got to perform in front of over 6,000 people and we rocked it out! The soloists were amazing and the group songs were great. Unfortunately during one of our songs the power cut out, but we finished it off perfectly then did two more songs a capella. By the second time through Seasons of Love we got power back and were able to use the mics again. We were so good they asked us back for next year immediately. Got to meet the Mayor of Buffalo and got two hugs from Jodi Johnston, a well known local news anchor whom I absolutely love. My Coach put me in charge of making sure everyone knew what was going on and keeping tabs on everyone (wow, only what I do at the Theater all of the time!). Everyone soon realised that I'm taking a bigger role in the Studio and started to come to me with their questions.
Saturday afternoon was nice, helped out with a show for the Jrs. group at the Studio. They got their chance to sing at Borders and did a great job. Some of those kids are really going to go far if they want to. Their voices were out of this world! I'm getting to know more and more people within the Studio now which is a very good thing. Now that I am officially my Coach's assistant, I can introduce myself as such so people can start to know that they can ask me questions too. It was funny though, one lad that came up after the performance called me my Coach's daughter... now we look sort of a like, but she's slightly shorter than I am, and we don't look that much a like. We both had a chuckle over that.
Saturday evening was the wedding reception and it was nice. The food was good but the service was sort of lacking. And for the price of the place I was surprised at what we had and the presentation of it all. My brother does a better job for more than half of the price. NOTE: Sleep deprivation + one mixed drink = not good, more tired than ever... I got home and passed out, not because I was drunk, because I was sooooo tired.
Sunday brought about more fun. Went to Church and a friend who has a recording contract came and sang. He sounded fantabulous. Yes, fantabulous. After that I went to a meeting for Relay for Life, I'm the co-captain with my Coach for the Studio's team (big surprise huh?). Then was rehearsal at the Studio for our concert next week. Our songs are awesome and I cannot wait to sing them for our friends and families. We'll be doing our signature "Seasons of Love" and our soon to be signature "Don't Stop Believin". I was able to bond a little more with some of the other performers and I'm earning my battle wounds.. performing with everyone on Saturday brought me to another level respect wise with those who have been there longer because they saw me taking control. After rehearsal I ended up hanging out for a few more minutes and then singing in the parking lot with one of the girls! Good times!
Later on I talked with my new boss... my Coach and I asked her about this one performance that is headed by a internationally famous local guy that she knows fairly well. Turns out, I may be having a meeting with this guy in the near future. Can't say more than that just to be safe, but yeah. All of the sudden my resume is beginning to build and I've only been actually working for the woman for less than a week now. This next year is going to be an interesting one, let me tell you! Contacts are going to be made, and not just little ones either. HUGE names that could also mean possible jobs.
Today I had my lesson, but I ened up taking the first one of the day instead of my normal just before dinner lesson. She actually had me come in extra early so we could talk through some stuff, which proved to be quite fruitful and we bonded a lot in that time. She told me some stuff I needed to know and we talked through a few things. It was nice to finally get a few minutes to hash through a few things with her face to face, one on one. Then I had lesson, she picked on me so I didn't sing. But after a few minutes we got down to buisness. I went through my song twice on the mic. I HATE HEARING MYSELF SING!! With a passion, I hate hearing myself sing. I don't know why, I just do. Messed up a little, but everything should go well for the concert (I HOPE!). Got a compliment from one of my new friends at the Studio about my high notes which made me happy.
I got to talk to one of my buddies today and she made me all sorts of happy because she's coming to my concert. I was all excited. I was hoping she could come. Now, I'm just getting ready to spend some time with my recoring artist friend and just enjoy the evening. I'll write again soon! Love Always!
