Hey there!

Sorry it's been a while but I've been busy getting things straight and relaxing a bit (wait, what is that again).

Let's see... Just had my midterms and they went ok... B's mostly, just because it's a bunch of harder classes and they were all bunched into like 2 days. UGH... I am not looking forward to the end of the semester. I have a few papers due in the next two weeks so I'm going to be writing like crazy!! I was happy I was off last week. It let me clear my head and get ready for 3 weeks of hard work before another break. Then another like 2 or 3 weeks and it's the end of the semester. Geez, that's just crazy! About 5 weeks and I'll be a Senior in college. :o! I'm trying to work on my schedule for next semester already and it's getting annoying. I want to take another year of German, but if I do I still have to take the laguage lab. Another 50 minutes a week for another year of my life that I will never get back... UGH I HATE LAB. So, I have to talk with my professor and see if there is any way to take the class and not the lab.

I'm thinking of maybe auditioning for Shakespeare in the Park this year. I just did a Shakespeare monologue so I already have something prepared. Even if I don't get a part maybe I can help with it or something. That would be so cool.

So, the biggest news I've had in a while came last week. The past few months I had been toying with the idea of going back to my vocal lessons.... Yes, Rachel, this is leading where you think it is... The thing was that I didn't want to go back to the lady I had gone to before. She was good for what I needed at the time, get me in shape for a high school musical. But I need something more than that now. I need performaces and opportunities, and someone that understands what I want for my future. I needed a SERIOUS vocal coach. I started asking around and a friend, who is a music producer in NYC told us about a friend of his. She happens to be the best coach in the area and has had FANTASTIC results. She takes certain students to the auditions for American Idol, every year and her students have gone on to do great things. So, all of the sudden... I'm talking within a week's time.... I find my self at her studios for my first lesson! She's teaching me perfect pitch and enforcing the proper breathing. I'm even learning intervals so I can harmonize with anything whenever I feel like it. She has a strong emphasis on stage presence, of which I have A LOT... making her perfect to go to for musical theater. Plus, she constantly has performances at malls and other events around the area. She is exactly what I need.

So, at the end of the first lesson she told me to contact her to set up the next week's lesson... hmm, she wants to work with me... I'm her student... alrighty then! So, I went on Saturday to a concert she had at one of the malls and some of her students just blew me away. They just rocked it out and didn't care. It was awesome! That was when I knew I was in the right place (besides for her texting me constantly telling me how she was looking forward to meeting me and hearing me, lol). Yesterday, I had my second lesson and it was great. I worked on my one exercise that goes up the scale but going from 1-8... 1... 1,2,1... 1,2,3,2,1.... etc. Who would have thought counting to 8 would be so tough. I got that down flat, and then we left out a number... wow, talk about hard!! You try finding the perfect note without having the one before to feed from!!! Then we started work with the intervals... good times! Then, my favorite part-- Singing Kareoke! It doesn't always have to be kareoke, but it's easier that way she can watch you and pay attention to your singing more. So I wanted to sing "Out Tonight" from RENT. I came, I sang, I CONQURED! She loved it. Then, I wasn't sure what else I wanted to sing so she looked at my sheet and saw "All That Jazz" from Chicago. "I love that song." She said... Then I told her that I sang that for an audition in high school... "AND?"... that's how I got the part... "Well THEN! You have to sing it!" I came, I sang, I rocked it out! She enjoyed it, and even said that with the addition of a few more songs that I can get down cold, she may just have me perform in All Access this year. AFTER TWO LESSONS! I may be performing, by myself?! I never would have guessed I would be saying that so soon but it's a good possibility. If I keep rocking out and improving, taking her advice and working my butt off... I may just do it!

SO, after wasting about 10-15 mins of your time with that I'll let you go. Ideas, questions, comments (good or bad) EMAIL ME!!!! Please!! I want to hear from you! Take care and I'll try to update as much as possible! Toodles!
